Tveir Hrafnar gallery is proud to announce “This Call May Be Recorded,” a solo exhibition by renowned Icelandic artist Thordis Adalsteinsdottir. The exhibition invites visitors into a world where playful surrealism meets sharp social critique, using the metaphor of monitored conversation to interrogate themes of surveillance, psychological tension, and voyeuristic self-awareness.
Drawing on the familiar warning that “this call may be recorded,” Adalsteinsdottir transforms the gallery space into a site of observation and introspection. The works presented incorporate absurdist imagery and uncanny interventions, prompting viewers to confront the boundaries between private experience and the public gaze.
“Every day we are both the observer and the observed—sometimes willingly, sometimes not,” says Adalsteinsdottir. “In this show, I wanted to explore how that tension shapes our sense of identity and our communication with the world.”
